EC SUMMERCAMP AMSTERDAM
03. – 05. July 2009 Amsterdam
This years Escrima Concepts summer camp with Master Steve Tappin has not only met the expectations, but delivered far more information, hard training and lots of fun!

Starting on Friday at 14:30 with a small group was Instructor Wayne Tappin (3. Instructor Grade EC) who started off with single Machette theories and tactics.
This was more than a great warm up for the up comming Seminar!

The same day in the evening Master Steve together with Wayne started the second class of the day.
After prior 2 hours Training they didn’t save us. Providing more foot work and theories on Machettes and starting to connect the armed with the unarmed applications didn’t help us to stop thinking and relax. The training was again very rich on information and we didn’t spare each other while training.
On Saturday (with a nice muscle pain) we continued with single Machette. The focus was on theories of movement, connecting the figure eight and changing the angles of the attack. More pressure was added to the attacks in order to show the difference in movment between training and a bigger threat.
After that we went into unarmed and trying to connect the prior lerned and apply in similar situation.
Another day full of training, more theory and Fun has passed.

On Sunday it was all about the unarmed and the standing Grappling. I have to be honest here. This is the most fun for me and learning each time something new from Master Steve and appart of that a big honor. If you have experianced Master Steve doing and explaining the unarmed theories, the body mechanics and the theory of movement you will maybe know what I am talking about.
He is covering every aspect beginning from recognising the intention of the attack up to finishing the fight by stopping or controlling the attacker.
Also the palm stick techniques and and theories were practiced. For control and recognition drills we had to control the opponent and being honest if we could get the control or if we would hurt them on the way there. Knocking somebody in the face and putting an armlock on isn’t “controlling”
And so our Escrima Summercamp came to an end.
I did learn far more than expected. All the questions that came up were anwsered immediately and there is more to come.

Until then train hard to fight easy.
“The opponent’s attack is just an inconveniance…”
It’s good to be us
